Window

"At age thirty, I hit a wall. I began to hear more clearly Jesus’ call to discipleship, and it was a hard saying. I would have to lose my soul in order to follow him. But as a white, middle-class, educated, American man, who has succeeded at virtually everything he has put his hand to, I have gotten quite used to winning. And now Jesus is calling me to lose? "Window" narrates the struggle of losing. By losing I am forced to grapple with my doubts and uncertainties. I suddenly have to face everything I've tried to hide or run away from. But by stepping into the unknown, I discover the beauty letting go and completely trusting in God. Herein lies the only way to truly know myself and what it really means to follow Jesus" (Ryan Flanigan)

VERSE 1
Open up the window to the darkness
Step into the wonder of your blindness
You will lose yourself, you will find yourself

VERSE 2
If you want to know where your heart is
If you dare to know, then come on in
You will lose your soul, you will find it
You will lose control, never mind it

CHORUS
Oh, if you want to know, if you want to know
Oh, you must lose your soul, you must let it go

VERSE 3
Admit yourself your heart is black
No hiding now, no turning back
You’re better off, trust me, you’re truer here
It’s dangerous and cold, so be aware

BRIDGE
Oh, if you want to know, if you want to know
Oh, you must lose your soul, you must let it go
Oh, come and save your life, come and face your strife
Do you want to know, do you want to know?
