You Are The Beauty

You Are The Beauty

"Our ten month old son woke up earlier than usual one morning. I got up with him and rocked him back to sleep by a big bay window in our breakfast nook. As he lay on my chest we both dozed back off to sleep. A little while later I felt him moving. I woke up to see his little head lifted and the white of his eyes reflecting the morning sunrise. I stared into his innocent eyes and watched them fill will brilliant colors. It was a holy moment. I began to weep and pray that he would never grow cynical and could always see beauty in the world. Immediately I began working on lyric and melody ideas to capture this beautiful moment, but only ended up with rough sketches. I put it on the shelf for a couple of years until one day I was writing with Aaron Keyes. I shared the idea with him and he coined the phrase "you are the beauty in all that's beautiful". I knew immediately that was the chorus and the song came together pretty quickly after that." (Cameron Walker)
"Psalm 24 says "The earth is the Lord's, and all of its fullness". I grew up thinking that this world is going to burn one day, so there was no need to care how we treated it today. Songwriter Peter Mayer poignantly called it “heaven’s second-rate hand-me-downs.” But God made this world and still shines through every ray of its light. His creative life is still leading trees to shed their leaves in time for winter (to not yield their branches to be crushed under heavy snow). And his image is what we see every time we look in another's face. James says, “Don’t be deceived; every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Heavenly Lights.” I think we are deceived today—or at least asleep. There is more goodness around us than we have any idea about. The late John O’Donohue prayed: "May we live this day as a sacred gift, woven around the heart of wonder." This song is trying to awaken in us that wonder again, the wonder of the one who’s beauty knows no limits." (Aaron Keyes)

VERSE 1
All the earth is yours
The golden light of dawn
Is burning with your song
The sun and moon and stars
They fill the skies with awe
But you shine through them all

CHORUS
You are the beauty
You are the beauty
You are the beauty
In all that’s beautiful

VERSE 2
The glimpse of daily grace
The passion in a flame
The life within the rain
The praise of reaching pine
It mines the earth to find
It’s source is in the sky

VERSE 3
The tone of every skin
The patterns in my hand
The miracle I am
The image that we bear
The majesty we wear
We find you everywhere

BRIDGE
All we see is not all there is
