Apostles' Creed

Apostles' Creed

"Bishop Todd Hunter once pointed out that many American Christians are functional atheists - we say we believe in God but live our lives in such a way that God doesn't exist. Over time we stop believing in God altogether, because as humans our actions shape our beliefs. Praying the Creed is one historic act of worship that shapes our belief in God. Originally written for my kids, this setting of the Apostles' Creed intends to inspire faith in our hearts and to rekindle our dependency upon God, exhibited in our actions." (Ryan Flanigan)

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, creator of heaven and earth
I believe in Jesus Christ, his only son, our Lord
He was conceived by the power of the Holy Spirit
And born of the virgin Mary

He suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried
He descended to the dead, on the third day he rose again
He ascended into heaven, and is seen at the right hand of the father
He will come again to judge the living and the dead

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic Church
The communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins
The resurrection of the body and the life everlasting
