Boast In The Lord

Boast In The Lord

"In 1 Corinthians 1:31 Paul implores his readers; “Let he who boasts, boast in the Lord’. The verses of this song lead us through the different seasons of everyday life, seasons of joy and grieving, the daily routines of our domestic responsibilities, the reality of aging and even death. As Aaron and I labored over the lyrics of this song, our heart was to capture Paul’s encouragement, not just to boast in the Lord during moments of glorious triumph and spiritual vitality, but to explore what it means to boast in the Lord during the often mundane but ultimately holy, regular routines of everyday life. The final line of each chorus, captures a prophetic and hopeful reality, that in all things my soul will learn to boast in the Lord." (Chris Moerman)

From before the dawn of light
You were everlasting life
As you sang the morning sky
Lord, you knew me
You had seen my truant heart
Still you reached into the dark
Now the blood of sacred scars
Stirs my soul to sing

O my soul, O my soul
Boast in the Lord
He has lifted you out of the grave
My soul will boast in the Lord
By his death we have died
By his life we've been lifted on high
My soul will boast in the Lord

In my heart and in my home
When tomorrow stands unknown
When my soul is wintered stone
Lord, remind me
You are there when seasons change
You are mending all you've made
This, my prayer, in this, my pain
Purify me

When my silver end is near
May my restless heart be still
In my fading strength and years
Lord, be near me
As my body enters rest
O, my soul will resurrect
You have triumphed over death
Glorious victory
