Down To Earth

Down To Earth

"The melody for Down To Earth was written nearly two years before I made myself write the lyric. It always sounded "Christmas-ee" and hymn-esque. I wrote it with my best writing buddy, Shawn Klaiber.

The lyric came out of the need to write a song that could enforce our church's Christmas message: "Down To Earth". After writing several verses we narrowed it down to what we thought were the best, most true to scripture, interesting, and descriptive parts of the story of Jesus coming down to earth." Under open skies, oh the night is alive and bright
Troops of angels sing, ushering in heaven's light
Peace upon the earth, as the gift of perfected love
Proves his children worth, crying praise, father above

Heaven's song is sung so loud
That the world is filled with joy
This is the night of our savior's birth
King of kings comes down to earth

Come let's go and see as we hum angel melodies
Could this really be Christ, the Lord, the newborn king

Come let's go and see all the wonder and joy
Messiah born tonight, virgin birth, a baby boy
Quiet where he lay, on our knees we begin to praise
Thankful for the first of all Christmas days
