God Answers Job

God Answers Job

"We wanted to write songs of worship that were rich with scripture, enabling believers to know doctrine and memorize scripture through melody. "God Answers Job" was our first cowrite with this goal in mind. We both came to the writing room with the story of Job on our hearts. We worshipped together and talked about how moved we both felt by God's response after Job laid bare his heart and his frustrations. God answers Job by reminding him that it was him, and not Job, who laid the foundations of the earth; and it was him, and not Job, who was there from the beginning; and it is only him who has the power to hold back the sea. This song was written in awe of God's power over all creation and his great might in delivering us from death through Jesus death and resurrection." (Annah Housworth)

Who carved the channel for the rain
To flood the desert's empty land
To reconcile the desolate
And make it spring with life again?

God almighty
You have carved a way for us
A way for us to you
For your glory
You destroyed the grave for us
You paid for us

He laid the earth's foundation strong
And set in place the coming dawn
He shut the sea behind its doors
When from the womb it bursted forth

Jesus, son of God, destroyer of the grave
Jesus, son of man, once and for all you paid

You give the orders to the morn
And with new mercy comes new light
And every time my soul is worn
You send the sun to help me rise

Before my ears had only heard
But now my eyes have seen you, God
