Hold Me In Your Arms

Hold Me In Your Arms

"I wrote and recorded this demo in the 90s after I had written this song for a friend who was fighting cancer. I sung it over her during the last days of her life, and then at her funeral. Disclaimer: melodically it is very 90s. But, heartwise, it is current as many of us are navigating life's tough realities. In these moments, we are do not go looking for "cool" or "hip", but a moment in the presence of Jesus.

Mike and Cathy, fellow British immigrants and our next door neighbors, were some of the best friends we made when we moved to America. My wife, Sarah, and Cathy became the best of friends and were a force to be reckoned with in kingdom ventures. It was a deep shock when Cathy was diagnosed with cancer. It was our privilege to journey with her and Mike through the final season of her life. I remember times, during the day, when Mike was at work, that Sarah would ask me to help carry Cathy up their staircase as she didnt have the strength.

This life is fragile but it is in our moments of fragility that we engage the most meaningfully with our God." (Martin Chalk)

Like the summer sun
Like the winter snow
Like ocean waves
Sweep over me
Let me feel your touch
Let me hear your voice
Cause I need to be in your presence

Hold me in your arms
Let me feel your breath of life
Hold me in your arms
Don't let me go
Fill me with your love
Touch my lips with holy fire
Fill me with your love
Don't let me go

You restore my soul
Heal my broken heart
You replace my fear
With joy unconditional
I can feel your touch
I can hear your voice
Lord I love to be in your presence
