Who Can Hold The Oceans?

Who Can Hold The Oceans?

"In Revelation 4 we find heaven worshiping because of God’s creative power. 'Whenever the living creatures give glory, honor and thanks to him who sits on the throne and who lives for ever and ever, the twenty-four elders fall down before him who sits on the throne and worship him who lives for ever and ever. They lay their crowns before the throne and say: You are worthy, our Lord and God, to receive glory and honor and power, for you created all things, and by your will they were created and have their being.'

In Revelation 5 we see heaven worshiping because of God’s redemptive glory. 'And they sang a new song, saying: “You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because you were slain, and with your blood you purchased for God persons from every tribe and language and people and nation. You have made them to be a kingdom and priests to serve our God, and they will reign on the earth.'

So then: Creation, and Redemption. In these, there is no one like our God. He alone has made all things, and will one day make them new (in consummation).

This song follows that model, with a simple chorus and bridge to sum it all up." (Aaron Keyes)

Who can hold the oceans in his hand
Who can scale the skies and ride the wind
Who created light with spoken word
Who has formed the mountains and their streams
Who has given stars their majesty
Who ordained the heavens and the earth

You alone are worthy
You make all things new
We worship you
We worship you

Who before the world was even made
Who for those accursed, a curse became
Who was spotless, yet for us was slain
Who alone is worth our highest praise
Who's the king who overcame the grave
Who enthroned forevermore will reign

We give you the highest praise
We give you the highest praise
We give you the highest praise
