Stephen Petree
In the 90’s, Stephen Petree was signed to the Geffen, Giant and RCA record labels as a member of the teen act, PC Quest. Along with his brother Chad, he had hit singles like, Can I Call You My Girl and After the Summers Gone that hit Billboard’s Top 50 and 60 respectively.
In 2002, Stephen made the move from Oklahoma to Los Angeles. He has since released several independent CDs, all the while he was increasing momentum by touring all over Southern California, and embarking on several national tours as well as appearing on national television.
Stephen is also a founding member of the popular electro/indie rock band Shiny Toy Guns. In 2008, Stephen became a Grammy nominated songwriter for his songwriting efforts on Shiny Toy Guns’ “We are Pilots” album, which garnered the group a Grammy Album Of The Year nomination.
Stephen has also had songs featured in television shows such as “Dancing With The Stars,” “America’s Next Top Model", “So You Think You Can Dance", “The Hills", “One Tree Hill", "The Real World", “Duck Dynasty”, etc … he also wrote the theme songs for the reality TV shows “Tour TV” and “Action House TV”, as well as worldwide commercials for Honda and Motorola.
In 2010-2014 re-issue, Stephen released “Weakness Makes Your Beautiful” with his alt/pop band “Petree” distributed by Universal. The album went to #17 on Christian charts, #45 on Indie charts, and #9 on Heatseekers charts. The album’s first single, “It’s Always Been You,” was an infectious paean. “It’s the popier side of us,” observes Petree, the song has elements in common with “Memory Lane,” whose video was partially shot on an I-phone and debuted at Universal Studios, Hollywood as well as on the #1 morning show in LA "Good Day LA". The song “She Set It,” which Stephen Petree describes as “part funk, part English melody,” was also featured on Fox TV’s “Good Day LA”, as well at MTV's "The Hills". “Stars Tipped Over” is a duet between Stephen and his brother Chad, who took time from his constant touring with Shiny Toy Guns to offer guest vocals. “We’re both wailing away on the choruses,” laughs Stephen. “Chad offers up some beautiful screams, too.” As of 2013-2014 he is working on several projects as a writer and producer. He co-wrote Jamar Rogers’ first single, “Where Would I Be Without You” and contributed to Shiny Toy Guns “III”, and you can hear his song “Le Disko” in the “Project X” movie and soundtrack.
He is currently leading "NorthPark Mission" based out of his home church in Valencia, CA. They've released a few records since August 2012.
