We Stand Together
We Stand Together
"This song started as my response when Charleston happened. Then Orlando. Then Louisiana. Then Minnesota. Then Dallas. And all along I knew it wasn't meant to be a song that I finished on my own. When things unfolded in Falcon Heights and Dallas, DeMarcus and I began texting. One of his responses was literally word for word two of the lines I had in my simple chorus idea. I knew at that moment that God had brought us together to write and share this declaration of unity. The following day, we collaborated and landed on this. The day after, I was scheduled to sing at the Minnesota Lynx basketball game for a faith and family night, against Dallas. DeMarcus and I shared this song for the very first time in a powerful expression of unity and standing together as players from both cities stood arm in arm alongside people from all over the Twin Cities. It's our prayer that this song would bring us closer together, that our difference can become our strength." (Mark Alan Schoolmeesters)

VERSE 1
Hear the sound, hear the cries
Of the victims' broken lives
See the pain, and see the need
Friends, we must find our way toward peace
We're better off together then we are on our own
CHORUS 1
We stand together
Our hearts entwined in a world of pain
We need each other
Our difference can become our strength
We are bound in the name of Jesus
We can stand in his grace and forgiveness
We stand together
VERSE 2
Hear our prayer, from our heart
We cry out for, Lord, for our land
Meet the need, we come to thee
God we must we find our hope in you
There's no easy answer if we try on our own
CHORUS 2
We stand together
Our hearts entwined as we call your name
You'll make it better
We look to you, you're our source of strength
We are bound in the name of Jesus
We can stand in his grace and forgiveness
We stand together
TURN AROUND
There's no easy answer if we try on our own
We're better off together then we are all alone
We choose to trust in Jesus, he's the source of all hope
