We Got Us
We Got Us
Written as part of our work with Christians for Social Action, “We Got Us” was written with Sandra Van Opstal from Chasing Justice. Blending English and Spanish, it celebrates the resilience of communities who refuse to leave one another behind. It is a song of solidarity, shared struggle, and the conviction that none of us are free until all of us are free.

VERSE 1
Hay colores - all my people by my side
Mis dolores - a pain I cannot hide
But we know this
Push us to the ground,
Le seguimos adelante
They can’t keep down
PRE CHORUS
Raise up your hands, stand on your feet
Out of the shadows and into the streets
Lift up your voice, shout til we’re free
Unidos y con fuerza
CHORUS
We got us (One in, all in)
We got us (I’m free, when you’re free)
We got us (I’m for you, you’re for me)
We got us
We got our god on our side
Fist in the air, we outside
We got us
POST CHORUS
Juntos luchamos, juntos ganamos
Juntos luchamos
Juntos luchamos y juntos ganamos
Juntos luchamos
BRIDGE
Tears streaming down
Baptize the ground that we stand on
Our feet washed in pain
Still believing, there’s a better way
Out of the ashes, into the light again
Hope is still rising
We won’t stop fighting, just not in our DNA
