Be Love

Be Love

This song is the first fruits of our partnership with The King Center. We wrote it for their Be Love initiative, but, when we saw that MLK Day 2025 coincided with the inauguration of the new US President, we rushed to record the song so that we could release it the Friday before these concurrent events.

While our world seems to be inflamed with hatred, meanness, bullying, vengeance and division, pulling us away from civil rights and human rights and into autocracy, we still believe in the way of Jesus, where loving on the widow, the orphan, the foreigner and the disenfranchised are priorities. This song helps steer us away from the distortions of Christian nationalism, and its toxic, power hungry culture, toward the underground community of Christ followers who still believe in love and servanthood.

VERSE 2
Sisters and brothers, time is far spent
And we’re still suffering
Will we be loved?
In the arc of the drama emotions run higher
Than they’ve ever been
Will we be love?
And in the dark before the dawn
Waiting for the light to come on
Still singing “we shall overcome”
We’ll keep singing these love songs
Where is the love?
Where is the love?

CHORUS
Db/F F#m
Let our minds be love
B/D# E
Our hands be love
A/C# D
Our hearts be love
E/G# A
Be love
